Loksabha elections 2024 : Bhartiya Janta Party has announced that it will contest 13 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. And also announced that its ally, the AJSU party, will field its candidate from the Giridih parliamentary constituency.

As we know , the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be held in 7 phases across the country, from April 19 to June 1. Date of Polling in Jharkhand as scheduled in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.
“It has been decided that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will field its candidates in 13 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand and AJSU party on one parliamentary seat, Giridih, in the interest of the people of the jharkhand,” Kumar said in a post on X.
BJP and AJSU party are old and natural” allies in Jharkhand, he said, adding that this alliance will strengthen” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make India a developed, self-reliant and a capable country”.
By winning the elections in all 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand, the alliance candidates will achieve the target of securing 400-plus seats on June 4,” Kumar added. Notably, the Giridih seat is currently represented by the AJSU party’s Chandra Prakash Choudhary.
Current Political Landscape In Jharkhand
In the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly, the ruling UPA has 47 MLAs: JMM 29, Congress 17 and RJD 1. The BJP has 26 members and the AJSU Party has three. The NCP and CPI (ML) have one lawmaker each, apart from two independents.
Recently, Congress released its eighth list on Wednesday of candidates for Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, Kalicharan Munda will contest from Khunti, Sukhdeo Bhagat from Lohardaga and Jai Prakashbhai Patel from Hazaribagh.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged victorious across 12 seats, with the BJP winning 11. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress got one seat each. Elections will be held in Jharkhand in four phases. Voting will take place in Jharkhand on May 13, 20, 25, and June 1.
