Goa Presents ₹30,195 Crore Budget for 2026-27, Paving Way for ‘Viksit Goa 2037

Panaji, Goa: The Viksit Goa Budget 2026-27, totaling ₹30,195 crore, was presented yesterday, marking the state’s fifth consecutive revenue surplus of ₹1,666 crore, while keeping the fiscal deficit at ₹3,895 crore, well within the FRBM limit. The budget reflects Goa’s commitment to balanced growth, sustainable development, and improved quality of life for all citizens.

This budget lays the foundation for ‘Viksit Goa 2037’, focusing on strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment, and social welfare. Over ₹4,000 crore has been allocated for roads, bridges, water supply, sewerage, and urban development projects, while each constituency will receive ₹100 crore for local initiatives.

Speaking during the presentation of the budget, CM Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “This budget aligns with the vision of Viksit Goa 2037 and Viksit Bharat, guided by the principles of Antyodaya, Gramodaya, and Sarvodaya. Key measures include expanding support for women through the ‘Mogal Bhayan’ scheme, establishing the Department of AYUSH, developing New Mopa City as a hub for wellness, trade, and sports, and launching the Mukhyamantri Udaan Bharari Yojana to empower the youth.”

Significant allocations include ₹3,439 crore for education, supporting school and higher education initiatives including research and skill development; ₹2,217 crore for healthcare, including expansion of Ayush facilities and the DDSSY insurance limit increased to ₹6 lakh; and ₹5,100 crore for electricity and renewable energy projects, with solar initiatives under VEDA. Employment generation is prioritized with 2,500 new government posts, MSME support worth ₹108 crore, and incentives for first-generation entrepreneurs.

The budget also allocates ₹385 crore for tourism, ₹293 crore for agriculture and allied sectors, and ₹554 crore for social welfare programs, including support for tribal communities, women, and differently-abled citizens. Investments in culture, tourism, and environmental sustainability further ensure balanced progress across urban and rural areas.
