Panaji, 2 February 2026: The QS India Summit 2026 is being held at Dona Paula, Goa, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The three day summit, scheduled from 1st to 3rd February, has brought together policymakers, academic leaders and global education experts to deliberate on the future of higher education and India’s emergence as a global knowledge hub.

Held at a defining moment for global and Indian higher education, the summit is centred on the theme “India@2047: Building Skills, Achieving Scale, Driving Innovation.” As education systems undergo fundamental shifts worldwide, the summit focuses on strengthening human capital, building forward-looking institutions, and aligning education with innovation, employability, and social transformation to support long-term national growth.

 

Addressing the summit, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said that education is central to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. He said that strong human capital and future ready institutions will determine India’s success as a developed nation by 2047, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. CM Dr. Sawant noted that the presence of 54 Indian universities in the QS World University Rankings 2026 reflects the impact of sustained reforms, academic excellence, and focused policy interventions in higher education. He appreciated QS and Dr Ashwin Fernandes for their contribution to strengthening India’s global academic standing.

Highlighting Goa’s role in the national education journey, CM said the State is committed to building a robust and inclusive higher education ecosystem through NEP-aligned reforms, digital transformation, research and innovation initiatives, and strong industry partnerships. He referred to student-centric initiatives such as the Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholars Scheme, the Goa University Research Park Unit, and infrastructure development under PM-USHA, aimed at improving quality, access, and global engagement in higher education.

The summit was attended by Executive Director of QS India Dr Ashwin Fernandes, Commissioner of Canada to India Mr Christopher Cooter, senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Vice Chancellors and representatives from various universities, along with other dignitaries and delegates.
